 Edelman Develops Active Warm-up for USA Swimming LOCAL PHYSICAL THERAPIST DEVELOPS INNOVATIVE, ACTIVE WARM-UP FOR COMPETITIVE SWIMMERS DOVER, Del. (April 8, 2009) – Local business owner and founder of Edelman Spine and Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (ESOPT), George T. Edelman MPT, OCS, MTC, recently developed an innovative active warm-up specifically for USA Swimming. The Sports Medicine Committee of USA Swimming has embraced Edelman’s innovative, sport specific, active warm-up for competitive swimmers as a superior approach when compared to traditional methods.
“The latest evidence reveals that traditional pre-workout and pre-competition stretching negatively impacts muscle performance,” Edelman reports. “Dynamic warm-ups have been documented to produce short term and long term performance enhancements in power, agility, strength, muscle endurance, and anaerobic capacity. This new swimming-specific active warm-up will better prepare our swimmers for workout and competition.”
